Lansana draws on Nine years of experience working as an artist/educator in the Chicago Public Schools and elsewhere, teaching Creative writing and visual arts residencies, and developing Black History and Literature curricula. Join us as we celebrate the fruits of his labor and perseverance.
Quraysh Ali Lansana is the author of three poetry collections an a children’s book, co-producer of a PBS award-winning poetry video and a jazz and poetry audio cassette, and editor of two anthologies. He is a recipient of the 1999 Henry Blakely Award, Presented by Gwendolyn Brooks, and the 1999 Wallace W. Douglas distinguished Service Award, presented by Young Chicago Authors. He is Artistic Director of Guild Complex Where he also serves on the board of Directors. He has been a teaching artist and literary curriculum developer for almost a decade and has led workshops in prisons, public schools and universities in over 30 states.Performers
