Through stories, poetry and speeches, the wedding ceremony will be celebrated and conniserated. Come to the party and wear your favorite wedding outfit or talisman.

Cassandra Fay Smith’s stories and poetry have appeared in TriQuarterly, Crescent Review and on National Public Radio’s “This American Life.” Her exhibit of doll art, “Slaves, Free blacks and Runaways, “ has been widely shown and featured on CBS, NBC and WGN.

Lisa Alvardo is the founder of La Onda Negra Press and author of poetry collections Reclamo and The HouseKeeeper’s Diary, Exploring her experiences as a domestic and themes of invisibility and heritage. The Housekeeper’s Diary is also the subject of a future performance piece. Jim Bartholomew is a Chicago based writer and poet. Calvin Forbes is an award-winning poet who teaches at the School of the Art Institute. Marvin Tate is the author of Schoolyard of Broken Dreams (Tia Chucha Press) and has performed with writers Amiri Baraka, Paul Beatty, Cornelius Eady and Ken Nordine. If that isn’t enough, his critically acclaimed word/theater/funk band, D-Settlement has a new CD, “The Minstrel Show.” Mary Wisniewski is a journalist and short story writer from a large Chicago Catholic Family with many weddings.
