With Thresholds (Collage Press), Jeff helgeson has returned to his original commitment to prose and has created a short novel that combines a sense of dramatic action with an introspective review of life issues, both personal and global in scope. Set in Rome at the end of the millennium, the novel follows several different characters as they go through the final day of the century.
Playwright Jeff Helgeson’s work has been produced at stage left Theater, Victory Gardens Studio theater and Chopin Theater. His Work has been featured in Tomarrow Magazine, Letter eX, Performink and at Chicago Artists Coalition. He currently holds an administrative position with Roosevelt University in Chicago. Chicago poetry mainstay Maria McCary is author of the chapbook The Only Thing I Miss About the South (South Viet Nam & Others). She is an actor, director, instructor of conflict-resolution and improvisation workshops, Vietnam Vet and proud mother of 3 great children. Her on-stage experience includes Free Street Theater productions Project!, Reflections and Saturday Nite Forever.. Maria says, “Poetry is many things to me, but performance poetry is therapeutic and political.”Performers
