Ocotber 9, 10 and 16th – Writer, composer, and playwright Brian Quijada imagines the story of Reina, a young woman and her journey of migration from El Salvador to the United States in the late 1970s. Reina, who found new friends along the way, left behind the people she loved most to make it through the desert. This musical, inspired by L. Frank Baum’s The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and the musical genres of Cumbia, rock and roll, hip hop, spoken word, and salsa, and true historical events, depicts a fable of love, community, and that home is wherever the heart and family are and that there really is no place like it.
