Nicollette Arrington, a successful Chicago attorney and Brock Arrington, a prominent architectural engineer, have tried desperately to have a child to complete their dream family. The love struck couple balance their quest to become parents with their desires to climb the ladder of success, as well as Nicky’s interest in gathering support for a hands-on-mentor’s program for high risk teenage girls. As Nicky unselfishly devotes herself to this cause, she becomes the victim of a vicious rape after escorting her underprivileged protégé through a crime-infested neighborhood. Weeks later after riding an emotional roller coaster, Nicky’s spirits are lifted when she discovers she is pregnant with the long awaited Arrington child. However, her joy is interrupted when Brock reveals a recent revelation that he is sterile, forcing her to come to terms with the fact that she is carrying the child of her rapist. Unable to choose between the life of her unborn child and her prideful husband, Nicky is left alone to deal with an uncertain future. Born with complications and having a rare blood type, the truth of the baby’s paternity is revealed through a chain of events, which assures the reconciliation of the Arrington family.
