One of the most famous and legendary Dutch cabaretiers is coming to Chicago – Freek de Jonge.
He first hit the stage at age 11 and starting in 1965 collaborated with other students after he arrived in Amsterdam for his studies. By 1969, Freek and his partner, Bram Vermeulen, did their first full evening show – Dutch Music & Comedy Show, Neerlands Hoop in Bange Dagen. Bram en Freek\’s songs, jokes and style were unique in Dutch cabaret and provided important commentary on issues of the day.
Since 1980, Freek de Jonge has concentrated his efforts on a solo career. He has written several books, and columns, appeared in movies, on radio, on television, written music and songs and performed numerous cabaret shows, including several traditional End of Year Conferences.
