All Power to the People: the Black panther Party and Beyond (1996, 118 min., video) follows the Black Panther party from its ?aboveground? origins in 1966 through its demise as an outlawed ?underground? guerrilla force in 1983. This history of the black Panther Party focuses on the FBI?s illegal counter Intelligence Program (COINTELPRO) which destroyed the New Left movement in the US. Director Lee Lew-Lee combines rare archival footage, information gathered from heavily censored FBI and CIA documents, and interviews to create an insightful and thorough examination of this pivotal era in US history. Interviewees include Bobby Seale, Kathleen Cleaver, Mumia Abu-Jamal, Leonard Peltier and former US Attorney General Ramsey Clark.
