Sterling Plumpp is Professor of English and African American Studies at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and author of tem books including the highly praised poetry collections Ornate with Smoke, and Blues: The Story Always Untold. Internationally recognized, particularly in South Africa, for his blues- and Jazz-based poetry, Professor Plumpp has received the Carl Sandburg Award and other honors for his critically acclaimed work.

Kelly Norman Ellis is an Assistant Professore of Creative Writing and African American Literature at Chicago State University. Her work has been published in Sisterfire (1994), Spirit and Flame (1997), Obsidian II, and Eclipsing a Nappy New Millennium (1998). Kelly is currently compleating her first collection of poems, Tougaloo Blues, and is a recipient of The Kentucky Foundation for Women Creative Writing Grant. She is also a founding member of The Affrilachian Poets, a traveling band of writers with roots in the deep South and Appalachia. Reggie Young is an Assistant Professor in the English Department at a local area Illinois college, where he teaches creative writing (fiction and poetry), and African American, American, and Multicultural literature courses. He has published a chapbook of poetry, The Da[y]ze of Bluesville Boyz, and two small volumes of fiction, Concrete Rituals and Faith Flight (Black Bayou Press). Among his honors are the Gwendolyn Brooks Significant Illinois Poets and the PEN Discovery Award.Performers
