This workshop focuses on the creation, adaptation, and interactive performance of original and traditional folktales, poetry, and music.

The writing of personal life stories serves as a basis of story creation and assists in story adaptation. The workshop uses rhythm, chants, and call. Hear how the students apply the principles learned in this unique workshop. Emily Hooper Lansana, a graduate of Yale University in Theater Studies, has been bringing words to life since childhood. Emily performs with Glenda Baker in the highly acclaimed and popular performance duo ?In the Spirit,? and is also a member of the respected performance group Kuntu Drama. Emily has worked as a teaching artist in the Chicago Public Schools and nationwide.
