The Journal of Ordinary Thought publishes reflections people make on their personal histories and everyday experiences. It is founded on the beliefs that every person is a philosopher, expressing ones thoughts fosters creativity and change, and taking control of life requires people to think about the world and communicate their thoughts to others. JOT strives to be a vehicle of reflection, communication, and change.

JOT strives to be a vehicle of reflection, communication, and change.

Writers’ will be coming from groups at branch libraries; Hall Branch and Bee Branch (South side); Uptown Branch; Mabel Manning Branch (near west side); and from parent groups at Fiske School (woodlawn) and Suder School (near the west side.) In other words, from neighborhoods all over the city.
