“San Diego’s the Muslims dropped that badass moniker in favor of an insider reference to – ah-hum – an additional appendage for curious ladies: the Soft Pack. The band still has a sound steeped in VU-era Lou Reed, with the added bonus of deep, bassy rhythms. Opening are the warm and (very) fuzzy ’60s-on-overdrive Smith Westerns.
