The Lower Depths

Gwydion Theater continues its season examination of economic injustice this time through the lens of the impoverished. Maxim Gorky’s The Lower Depths follows the lives of fourteen people who have found themselves at the bottom of the economic ladder as they search for what (or who) caused them to descend into fatal poverty. Gorky’s masterpiece has been long celebrated by scholars, but has not found footing on the American Stage.
